Exposed.... sorta

A few days ago, I was introduced to the Exposed movement that began a year ago this month. My friend Melissa mentioned Roni's post on her blog, and that post led me to Mish's original post, and then I read more and more from other women and a few men as well.

I was awed.

You all know me. You know that there are many things I do not like about myself, my body in particular. It's very difficult to change thinking patterns, far more difficult than changing other habits in my experience. Losing 160 lbs (and then regaining 20, heh) was a piece of cake in comparison to learning to love myself.

After seeing what those other women did, I was inspired to do my own Exposed post. I will confess, I originally took and edited a photo in the spirit of the original. But after mulling it over for a few days, I just could not bring myself to put up a photo of me in my bra and panties. Not even my leopard print ones. ;-) Thus, the qualifier in my title for this post. Still, considering there is no way in hell I'd wear this outfit in public, I suppose that counts for something.

This Wednesday, Oct 20, is Love Your Body Day. Men and women constantly receive messages that our bodies are not good enough, and that we must buy this cream or pill or piece of exercise equipment so that we can be better.

Well, for today at least, I AM better. Here's how:

I might be a little biased, but what I do know is that you are a beautiful person, both outside and inside :)

You've made some great strides, and I don't see that ending anytime soon.

Mel bragged about you on Twitter so I had to come say hi. Congrats on your journey! What an amazing inspiration. I'll march in your parade any time!

It must be hard to dislike a body that can hike and canoe! I'm a bit envious.

Thank you everyone, especially my new visitors!

@finallygettingfit, there is so much truth in that observation, and one I do try to keep in mind. Anytime I find myself focusing on how my body looks, I try to refocus on what it can DO. It's a much happier perspective.

oh Kris! I am so proud of you for posting this. I too discovered the Exposed Movement this week and just kept cliking link after link to look at all these people that were willing to take that step and put themselves out there. You have now joined those brave ranks and let me tell you...you look PHENOMENAL!!! even if you skipped out on the leopard skivvies ;)
160 pounds is a huge endeavor...I am just shooting for 20 and have had a rough time of it. But I keep looking to you for inspiration and you keep on handing it out in ways you don't even realize.
I am so glad you are my friend.
